Wanaka - Mount Cook (Day 6)

We would be travelling from our base in Wanaka to Mount Cook today.

From Wanaka to Mount Cook (205 km) took us about 2.5 hours by car. It was definitely a long drive along the winding road. Half of the journey was along the uphill road, full with pine trees- so green and fresh and cool and the other half through a deserted road to the Mount Cook itself where almost everything was brown and white. Drive, drive and drive until we saw the snow-capped mountain.

 Finally....

Going back to Wanaka...dropped by Twizel for salmon fishing...Just kidding... We stopped at High Country Salmon, Twizel to get a salmon for our dinner. This shop also sells wasabi and soy source, so that you can make your own sashimi and sushi.

Passing the Lindis Pass...a spectacular wide view and fulfilling.  It lies between the towns of Cromwell in Central Otago and Omarama in North Otago, on the main inland route to the Mackenzie Basin in Canterbury.

All of us were starving...stopped by somewhere for a picnic...FYI, there are many places where you could just stop for picture taking and picnic along the Canterbury.

Then, Tarras..is wool products from the district's famed merino flocks. Tarras is just a small town...

End of Day 6
